The Agricultural Producers Association of Saskatchewan serves Saskatchewan’s agricultural producer's interests through direct voluntary membership of rural municipalities. When a rural municipality decides to join APAS, all ratepayers in that RM become members of APAS. Each member RM must elect or appoint an APAS Representative. 


Each APAS Representative is responsible for gathering producer input from their RM to bring to APAS policy discussions and to bring information on APAS policy positions and activities back to the agricultural producers in their rural municipality. APAS Representatives are eligible to vote at general meetings, can run for and elect Directors for their Districts and sit on APAS Policy Committees. Ratepayers elect their APAS Representatives to two-year terms in October of even-numbered years.

Board of Directors

The twelve-member APAS Board leads the organization and sets its strategic direction. From the board, a President and two Vice-Presidents are elected. Election of the the Board of Directors and Executive occurs at the Annual General Meeting.

Associate Members

Organizations with an interest in agriculture and rural Saskatchewan can also become Associate Members.  As an Associate Member, the organization can sit on APAS Policy committees, attend the Annual General Meeting and participate in setting the direction of the general farm organization. Associate Members and APAS collectively are able to pool their resources, expertise and policy reach to better serve farmers and ranchers in rural Saskatchewan. 

Policy Committees

The APAS Board of Directors may delegate matters for further consideration and analysis to one of its six policy committees:

The policy committees report back to the Board of Directors and general assembly with recommendations. Each policy committee includes representation from Directors, Representatives, and Associate Member organizations.


APAS is governed by a set of of bylaws. APAS bylaws can be amended, repealed and replaced by a resolution of the APAS Representatives passed by the affirmative vote of two-thirds of the Representatives present for such vote and otherwise in accordance with the Non-Profit Corporations Act.
