Position Overview:

Do you thrive on tackling complex challenges and transforming them into actionable policy positions? As a policy analyst, you'll play a crucial role in driving impactful change and advancing our strategic goals. Working closely with our policy committees, Executive Director, you'll have the opportunity to conduct groundbreaking research, analyze key trends, and develop innovative policy recommendations that will help shape the future of agriculture in our province.

Highlights of the Role:

  • Conduct in-depth research, analyze data, and develop strategic policy options to address complex agricultural issues.
  • Monitor industry trends, assess best practices, and evaluate the effectiveness of existing policies and programs.
  • Be our oracle and provide expert analysis and advice on emerging agricultural issues and trends.
  • Lead consultations with stakeholders and members to gather insights and support policy initiatives.
  • Prepare compelling reports, briefings, and submissions to communicate policy recommendations effectively.
  • Represent APAS at stakeholder meetings and maintain positive collaborative relationships within the industry.
  • Support internal committees and assist in the implementation and communication of policy positions and changes.
  • Provide key information for our website, social media, and other communication channels.
  • Present updates on policy issues and actions at Board meetings.

What It Takes to Join our Crew:

  • Strong research, analysis, and critical thinking skills.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain positive working relationships.
  • Expert knowledge of agricultural-related legislation, regulations, and policies.
  • The dexterity to juggle a barrage of projects without breaking a sweat.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant software.
  • A proactive, detail-oriented, and collaborative approach to work.

Education and Experience:

  • A post-secondary degree in agriculture, public policy, public administration, political science, business administration, or a related field.
  • Relevant work experience in policy analysis or a related field.
