Resolution:

WHEREAS the Indian Head Shelterbelt Centre has distributed some 650 million trees to landowners across western Canada since it opened in 1901;

WHEREAS the previous federal government closed this very productive and beneficial facility;

WHEREAS the demand and need for trees and shrubs for shelterbelts, soil conservation, wildlife habitat, carbon sequestration, etc., is very high;

WHEREAS there is a widespread demand for trees and the re-opening of the Indian Head Shelterbelt Centre;

BE IT RESOLVED that APAS urge the newly elected Federal Government to commit to working with agricultural organizations, communities and concerned citizens in western Canada to re-open the Indian Head Shelterbelt Centre.
