Resolution Title: | Canadian Agricultural Adaptation Program |
Year: | 2016 |
Resolution #: | ETSG11-2016AGM |
Resolution: | WHEREAS the Canadian Agricultural Adaptation Program (CAAP) is a five-year (2014-2019) funding program that supports industry-led projects to help the agricultural sector adapt to challenges and seize opportunities; WHEREAS administration of the CAAP program previously belonged to the provincial agricultural councils, which include representation from producers of all sectors, industry, and both levels of government; WHEREAS in 2014, Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada (AAFC) assumed full administrative authority for this program, including project approval; WHEREAS the centralization of CAAP has made the program less relevant to the regional and sector specific needs of Saskatchewan agriculture; BE IT RESOLVED that APAS lobby the federal government to return the administration of the Canadian Agricultural Adaptation Program (CAAP) to the provincial agriculture councils. |
