Resolution Title: | Crop Insurance Grading Policy |
Year: | 2016 |
Resolution #: | G&O5-2016AGM |
Resolution: | WHEREAS grain buyers are now using standards such as vomitoxin results and falling number to assess quality; WHEREAS the Canadian Grain Commission and the Saskatchewan Crop Insurance Corporation do not consider these factors when determining grades; WHEREAS this discrepancy is leading to instances where producers are not provided full coverage for quality losses in their crop insurance policies; BE IT RESOLVED that APAS lobby the Saskatchewan Crop Insurance Corporation (SCIC) to grade crop samples to current industry standards, over and above Canadian Grain Commission grades, to ensure that quality coverage remains consistent with the quality requirements now demanded by grain buyers. |
