WHEREAS Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD) is a serious and fatal disease affecting Saskatchewan’s deer, elk and moose populations;

WHEREAS more research is needed to better understand the spread of CWD and its potential impact on agricultural production and public safety;

WHEREAS the development of a comprehensive management plan to contain the spread of CWD requires the cooperation of all stakeholders, including agricultural producers, hunters, and cervid farms;

BE IT RESOLVED that federal and provincial governments increase funding to study and monitor Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD),

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the provincial government consult with all affected stakeholders to identify options to better monitor and manage CWD in Saskatchewan.
