Resolution Title: Disease Programs for Grains and Oilseeds Sector

Resolution:

WHEREAS the grains and oilseeds sectors are key components of agriculture in Saskatchewan;

WHEREAS crop rotations are a known measure to reduce the risk to various weeds and diseases;

WHEREAS some diseases, such as clubroot, can threaten the viability of canola production which is a critical component of a viable crop rotation;

WHEREAS the livestock sector, and our Provincial and Federal Governments have surveillance programs and actions plans to protect the viability of livestock production;

BE IT RESOLVED that the Provincial and Federal Government immediately develop and fund surveillance and prevention programs for clubroot and other diseases that threaten the viability of the grains and oilseed sector.
