Resolution

WHEREAS Farmers are sequestering carbon without compensation; and

WHEREAS Farmers cannot pass on extra business costs from carbon taxes or carbon levies to their customers in the supply chain; and

WHEREAS Under the Federal Carbon backstop policy, farmers will incur additional costs for road and rail transportation of livestock and crops, additional charges for natural gas and propane for heating barns and drying crops, and additional costs for inputs like fertilizer and machinery; and

WHEREAS Residents of rural Saskatchewan must travel long distances to service centres and will face additional costs for essential personal transportation;

BE IT RESOLVED That agricultural producers receive adequate compensation to offset additional carbon-related expenses.
