Resolution: | WHEREAS There is lack of awareness about the risks of clubroot and soil borne diseases among hunters, utility companies and other third parties accessing farmland; WHEREAS The implementation of a biosecurity plan is the responsibility of individual farms and landowners; WHEREAS There are standard biosecurity measures in place that producers can adopt to minimize he risk of soil borne disease transmission from foot and vehicle traffic; BE IT RESOLVED That APAS work with the Government of Saskatchewan, commodity associations and the Saskatchewan Association of Rural Municipalities (SARM) to develop educational material to ensure hunters and other parties accessing farmland are aware of biosecurity risks related to soil borne diseases and how they are spread through vehicle and foot traffic; BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED That material be made publicly available with emphasis on the importance of communicating with landowners about the farm’s biosecurity plan as well as the standard measures that should be followed in the event a specific biosecurity plan is not in place. |
