Resolution: | WHEREAS Lake Diefenbaker was completed in 1967 with a view to power generation, irrigation, flood mitigation, economic development and diversification and providing fresh drinking water; WHEREAS Currently on average only 3% of Diefenbaker’s capacity is used; WHEREAS Development of the Upper Qu’Appelle channel could create rural economic opportunities through irrigation, recreational activity and provide water security for rural communities and producers across much of southern Saskatchewan in the face of climate change; BE IT RESOLVED That APAS support Western Economic Diversification Canada’s research and feasibility studies of water development opportunities in Saskatchewan. |
