Resolution

WHEREAS Canada has an abundance of fresh water while other regions of North America are facing shortage of water for food production due to climate change;

WHEREAS Saskatchewan is an agriculture leader with a goal of increasing the value of agricultural exports;

WHEREAS An assured supply of agricultural commodities is needed to attract value-added processing in Saskatchewan; 

BE IT RESOLVED That APAS and Saskatchewan Irrigation Projects Association (SIPA) support the federal and provincial governments’ development and implementation of an irrigation strategy for sustainable food production.
