Resolution

Department: Saskatchewan Ministry of Agriculture & Canadian Canola Association

WHEREAS most canola seed is either a hybrid or patent protected and thus is not available as farmer saved seed;

WHEREAS all of the current seed treatments are currently under patent protection and no generics are available;

WHEREAS seed companies sell only coated seed;

BE IT RESOLVED that APAS request the Saskatchewan Ministry of Agriculture and the Canadian Canola Growers Association to lobby the CFIA on our behalf for farmers to have the option to purchase untreated canola seed.
