WHEREAS In its submission to the legislative review of the Saskatchewan Surface Rights and Acquisitions Act, APAS recommended the Ministry of Economy establish a Farmers’ Advocate Office to deal with land owners questions about their rights and responsibilities when approached by surface users of farmland;

WHEREAS the new surface rights legislation is now imminent;

BE IT RESOLVED that APAS reaffirm the need for a Saskatchewan Farmers’ Advocate Office be included in the new Act;

BE IT FURTHER RESOVLED that APAS be given the opportunity to provide input into the mandate of the Farmer’s Advocate, should the Ministry of Economy establish such an office.
