Department:  Government of Canada Competition Bureau

WHEREAS livestock producers have few marketing options and need to see growth in the options available to them;

WHEREAS livestock auction marts are being sold to an existing operator and the new operator is closing the facility and then raising the charges;

WHEREAS the Competition Bureau is mandated to promote competition and fair market practices in the marketplace;

BE IT RESOLVED that APAS request the Competition Bureau to investigate livestock auction market consolidation.
