Resolution

WHEREAS under the current Agri-Invest program, smaller operators receive smaller government contributions because of lower allowable net sales;

WHEREAS smaller operators are unable to accumulate a rainy-day fund to a size capable of helping them cope with small income declines;

WHEREAS consultations are underway for the next policy framework with a key focus on support for beginning farmers who are more likely to be smaller operators;

BE IT RESOLVED that APAS support an Agri-invest program that would increase the level of government matching contributions for producers reporting lower allowable net sales.
