Resolution

WHEREAS agricultural trade between Canada, the U.S. and Mexico has grown considerably under North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA);

WHEREAS the future of NAFTA remains uncertain as negotiations between the three countries continue;

WHEREAS the North American market is highly integrated and agricultural producers will ultimately bear the cost of tariffs and other trade disruptions;

BE IT RESOLVED that APAS express support for the continuation of a North American Free Trade Agreement that provides economic opportunities to agricultural producers and all Canadians;

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that APAS call on the Government of Canada to ensure the updated agreement includes a fair and transparent dispute resolution mechanism.
