Resolution

WHEREAS historically plant breeding has not identified the potential for carbon sequestration as a preferred factor for the development of crop varieties;

BE IT RESOLVED that APAS lobby the Federal and Provincial Governments and crop commissions and other funders to invest in research programs for the development of crop varieties that would increase carbon sequestration through innovations such as enhanced root mass and increased photosynthetic efficiency.
