Resolution

WHEREAS Saskatchewan’s agri-food exports for 2017 were $13.2 billion and Saskatchewan’s goal is to grow these exports to $17.5 billion by 2025; and

WHEREAS Clear, consistent decisions and processes are critical for competitiveness and sustainable growth in the agricultural sector to be achieved; and           

WHEREAS Bylaws and planning documents developed under the Planning and Development Act, 2007 are to align and be consistent with approved Statements of Provincial Interest;

BE IT RESOLVED That the Government of Saskatchewan require that the “Agriculture and Value Added Agribusiness” provisions of the Statements of Provincial Interest Regulations under The Planning and Development Act, 2007, include a requirement that the provisions, plans and approvals as defined in the Agricultural Operations Act be recognized to ensure that municipal planning documents and bylaws do not infringe upon accepted agricultural practices as defined in the Agricultural Operations Act.
