Resolution

WHEREAS Glyphosate is a low-risk, broad-spectrum herbicide that has enabled the adoption of no-till agriculture in Western Canada; 

WHEREAS Glyphosate has been the subject of a concerted campaign to restrict or ban its use in Canada and around the world; 

WHEREAS Glyphosate recently underwent a thorough re-evaluation by the Pest Management Regulatory Agency, which found that glyphosate poses no environmental or health safety risk when used according to label instructions; 

WHEREAS The APAS policy manual serves to clarify the organization’s policy positions on key issues to members and the general public, including news media; 

BE IT RESOLVED That APAS develop a policy statement affirming that when used according to label instructions, glyphosate is a safe, environmentally beneficial herbicide that is of vital importance to carbon sequestration and the sustainability of no-till production systems.
