Resolution Title: Grain Grading Consistency and Transparency

Resolution:

WHEREAS Grades assigned to producer samples significantly impacts the price offered for grain;  

WHEREAS The Canadian Grain Commission (CGC) only inspects equipment and audits grading practices at primary elevators when a complaint is received from the producer;  

WHEREAS The CGC has accumulated a large surplus of funds and has committed to investing in projects that directly benefit producers;  

BE IT RESOLVED That grain graders at primary elevators be required to complete mandatory Canadian Grain Commission (CGC) grain grading certification;

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED That the CGC increase its capacity to conduct onsite inspection and auditing of grading practices and equipment at primary elevators;

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED That the CGC be encouraged to report annually on its activities and outcomes related to grain inspections, auditing and dispute resolution.
