Resolution

WHEREAS Ag Producers in Saskatchewan are concerned about rising input costs and falling commodity prices;
WHEREAS SCIC coverage rates are currently at levels are equal to or approaching many producers' cost of production, and expected by producers to drop in the near future;
WHEREAS the option to purchase 'top up' insurance from private insurers has been severely limited by the inability of these insurers to meet the increasing interest in additional coverage;
BE IT RESOLVED that APAS lobby the provincial government to facilitate, as soon as possible, any legislative changes required to encourage other entities into providing additional coverage for all perils so producers have the ability to top up future crop insurance needs.
