Resolution:

WHEREAS larger agricultural input companies have the resources to successfully protect themselves against liabilities and recourse;

WHEREAS these companies use ‘fine print’ and other methods to deflect liability to producers, despite the protection that should be guaranteed by the Consumers Protection Act and Business Practices Act;

BE IT RESOLVED that APAS lobby for the updating of the Consumer Protection and Business Practices Act to:
• Better protect producers against false advertising of agricultural inputs.
• Define rules regarding what shall be covered by ‘fine print’
• Increase penalties for those found in violation of the Act
• Ensure marketing of products regulated under the Act are in accordance with the labels of the products
