Resolution

WHEREAS Saskatchewan Crop Insurance Corporation (SCIC) collects data on wildlife damage to crops and feedstocks in all wildlife management zones across the province;

WHEREAS Saskatchewan Government Insurance (SGI) collects data on collisions across the province that involve animals;

WHEREAS Saskatchewan Ministry of Environment does not have the budget to do detailed wildlife surveys in all zones across the province;

WHEREAS excess wildlife populations in pockets across the province are causing massive damage to standing crops, forage, and stored grain;

BE IT RESOLVED that APAS request Saskatchewan Crop Insurance Corporation and SGI supply a yearly report to the Ministry of Environment and other concerned stakeholders by October 31 that details all wildlife-related damage that is reported in each wildlife management zone in order to assist the Ministry with identifying areas with problematic wildlife levels.
