BE IT RESOLVED that APAS urge the Government of Saskatchewan to promote On Farm Food Safety (OFFS) training programs (e.g. HAACP, CanadaGAP) for agricultural producers and processors and provide them financial assistance to take the courses.

Note:
•    HACCP, or Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points, is internationally recognized as the primary means for enhancing food safety throughout the food chain, and is increasingly being used around the world. HACCP is a standard designed to prevent, reduce or eliminate potential biological, chemical and physical food safety hazards.  
•    CanadaGAP (Good Agricultural Practices) is the name of the Canadian Horticultural Council's (CHC) On-Farm Food Safety (OFFS) Program. The program consists of national food safety standards and a certification system for the safe production, storage and packing of fresh fruits and vegetables.)
