Department:  Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada

WHEREAS the Canadian Grain Commission (CGC) has historically protected producers’ rights and verified the quality and grades of Canadian grain for both domestic and export customers;

WHEREAS this CGC work improves trade and commerce, enhances the Canadian economy, and benefits Canadian consumers;

WHEREAS funding of the CGC is being shifted from the Government of Canada to farmers, despite being ‘green’ in world trade agreements (WTO);

BE IT RESOLVED that the Government of Canada maintain or increase its share of funding for the Canadian Grain Commission.
