WHEREAS the Farm Credit Corporation offers a number of financial products to producers that are unique;

WHEREAS Farm Credit Corporation has been aggressive at competing for producer’s business and have grown their business by 400% in 15 years;

WHEREAS a CD Howe Institute review in February 2013 of government lenders identified numerous issues in regards to competing with the private sector and made recommendations on a number of issues including restrictions to their activities;

WHEREAS Minister Ritz in a March interview indicated support for FCC but also announced that the federal government had also requested the Superintendent of Financial institutions to review FCC’s mandate;

BE IT RESOLVED that APAS would not support a reduction in the mandate of Farm Credit Corporation.
